IA Awareness Program for Faculty and Students

It is mandatory that all new NSU employees (faculty and staff) attend a day-long orientation that includes an overview of all NSU policies and procedures, including those that cover information security. Any new policies or changes in policies are emailed to all employees and students. Supervisors are responsible for insuring that all employees are familiar with policies. Program directors and department chairs are responsible for insuring that all students are made aware of prevailing policies.  GSCIS students are advised of the school’s acceptable use and information security policies during their initial orientation sessions.  Finally, Dr. James Cannady provides a one-hour presentation on IA awareness annually to GSCIS Ph.D. students and faculty.

The university’s information security policies are posted on its Web site and are accessible from the Human Resources page, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) page, the Web site of the Graduate School of Compute and Information Sciences, and many others. The policies are also contained in the Employee Policy Manual and in the NSU Student Handbook, and are referenced in school catalogs.
